How can I inspect my Bird Air before riding to make sure it’s in good riding shape and safe to ride? 

For the best, safest, and most enjoyable ride, we recommend inspecting your vehicle before each use. If your vehicle fails to pass anything on the Pre-Flight Checklist, please contact support before taking your next ride. Our Pre-Flight Checklist should be conducted when the vehicle is not in motion.

Smooth Steering

• While the vehicle is not in motion, slowly turn the handlebars all the way to the right and left. The steering action should be smooth. If the steering is not smooth, do not ride the vehicle prior to contacting Bird Support.

Neck Check

• Place one foot on the floorboard, push the handlebars forward and backward. If there is excessive movement, do not ride the vehicle.
• Examine the joint at the bottom of the neck where the shaft and base meet. If there are visible cracks or looseness, do not ride the vehicle prior to contacting Bird Support.

Throttle with Ease

• Fully press down the throttle 5 times. The action should be reasonably smooth with no sticking. If the throttle does not return to neutral, contact Bird Support before riding.

Check the Handlebar and Foot Stomp Brake

• Before you go too fast, check the brake on the handlebar and be sure that it's not stuck or not engaging the brake on the vehicle.
• Check the foot stomp brake at a slow speed to make sure it's slowing down the vehicle and that it's able to freely and independently move up and down off of the back wheel.

Screw Tightness

• Examine all visible screws. tighten loose screws by rotating them clockwise until snug. Do not ride until all screws are tight.

Headlight Heads Up

• Check that the headlight can turn on by single-tapping the power button once the vehicle is powered on. Also, make sure the headlight does not flicker and is steady.

Wheel Inspection

• Firmly grab each wheel and check for side-to-side movement by pushing left and right. If you experience side-to-side movement, do not ride the vehicle.

The range of my Bird Air seems lower than I thought. Is there any way to get more range out of it? 

The max range of the Bird Air is 15.5 miles but can vary depending on the terrain and speed setting.

If you want to increase your overall range then you should change your speed setting. To change to different speeds you can double-tap the power button, which will first go to the medium speed setting of “Glide” with the orange "S" and then on the second time you double-tap it will go into the fastest speed setting of “Fly”, which will show the red "S". 

The speeds of each level are: 

- Takeoff (no "S") - 9 mph max (slowest speed, but max range)

- Glide (orange "S") - 12 mph max (medium speed, medium range)

- Fly (red "S") - 16 mph max (fastest speed, but lowest range)

 

How do I turn the front light on my Bird Air on or off? 

When you turn on your Bird Air, quickly single-tap the power button and the front light will turn on. You can also turn off the front light by doing one more single tap on the power button.

 

How do I change my Bird Air from showing MPH to KPH?

When you turn on your Bird Air, quickly triple-tap the power button. This will switch the speed reading from kilometers per hour (KPH) to miles per hour (MPH) or vice versa. 

 

My Bird is going slow, how can I increase the speed of my Bird?

Your Bird Air may be in the slowest speed setting of “Takeoff”, which means that there is no orange or red "S" on the screen. 

To change to the faster speeds you can double-tap the power button, which will first go to the medium speed setting of “Glide” with the orange "S" and then on the second time you double-tap it will go into the fastest speed setting of “Fly”, which will show the red "S". 

The speeds of each level are: 

- Takeoff (no "S") - 9 mph max

- Glide (orange "S") - 12 mph max

- Fly (red "S") - 16 mph max

Also, remember the faster the speed setting, the faster your battery will drain, so the lower the setting the longer the range.

 

How do I secure my Bird Air?  Is there a way to lock my Bird Air?

For security and locking purposes, we suggest doing one of two things: 

1. Buying a smaller bike lock that can fit through the back wheel if you're going to leave your Bird Air outside for a longer amount of time.
2. Take the Bird Air with you into wherever you're going and either walk with it (like through a store if you're there quickly and have space) or bring in the Bird Air and fold it somewhere inside. 

There’s no QR code on my Bird Air, how do I pair it with the Bird app? 

You don't need to pair the Bird Air to your app to make it work. It's just another way to control the speed settings, light, and other commands. 

The Bird Air does not include a Bird ID or QR code, just a serial number (which you can find on the bottom sticker and also etched into the Bird Air next to the kickstand). You can still easily pair your Bird Air to the app following the steps below:

1. Make sure your Bird Air is assembled and charged to 100%.
2. Turn on your Bird Air by pressing the power button on the top of it.
3. With the Bird Air on, open up your Bird App and look for the menu item that says "Private Birds." 

4. Tap into this section, and should see your Bird Air listed under the "Nearby Bird Airs" section. Tap on your vehicle to pair. You can use the app to change the speed settings, turn the light on / off, and other commands. 

What’s the difference between a Bird Air and a Bird One? How does the Bird Air compare to the Bird One? 

There are a few things to think about when it comes to Bird Air vs. Bird One. Here are some of the key comparisons: 

Speed - they're pretty much the same. Bird One has a front motor vs. Bird Air has a rear motor. 

Battery - Bird One has a bigger battery, which can give you longer range, but it's also going to weigh a bit more. 

Portability - Bird Air is lighter and folds, which is nice, so even though it's got a smaller battery, it's great for the 3-5 mile trips there and back. 

Security - Bird One is more connected and is always telling you where it is, which is nice from a security standpoint. It can also lock its wheels and has no power button that can be used if you leave it outside. 

App - you are required to use the app with the Bird One, which as mentioned has its security benefits, but it can also be nice having a button to turn it on and off like the Bird Air.
